Shaw Jones Furniture Maker is a design-led, craft-driven studio founded by Rowan Shaw-Jones, based in coastal New England. The practice focuses on original furniture and objects, grounded in a deep reverence for wood and a sustained commitment to workmanship.

Trained in studios and high-end fabrication shops on both coasts and later earning a degree in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, Rowan has been designing and making for over a decade. Although a furniture maker at heart, he has also worked as a timber framer, boat builder, metal worker, and commercial fisherman. His wide-ranging experiences of work, play, and travel continually inform the way he moves through the world as a designer and maker.

In addition to original studio work, Rowan collaborates with designers, architects, and private clients on custom commissions where the studio’s design language and values align.

Rowan is also an adjunct faculty member in the Furniture Design department at RISD.
